How resin print cost is calculated

Resin is sold by volume, and 1 ml of model is 1 cm³. On top of the model itself you pay for supports and raft, resin left on the vat and build plate, and cleaning consumables.

resin ml = model ml × (1 + supports%) × (1 + waste%)
resin cost = resin ml × bottle price ÷ bottle ml
true cost = (resin + electricity + consumables) ÷ (1 − failure rate)

Hollowing a model in your slicer can cut resin use by 60–80% for large solid parts — re-run the numbers with the hollowed volume your slicer reports.

FAQ

How much does a resin print cost?

A 25 ml miniature-sized print with supports uses about 30 ml of resin — around $0.90 at $30/L — plus a few cents of power and consumables.

How do I know my model's resin volume?

Your slicer (Chitubox, Lychee) reports it, or drop the STL here to read the solid volume. Remember slicers include supports; this tool adds them as a percentage.

Is ml the same as cm³?

Yes. 1 ml = 1 cm³ = 1000 mm³.

How many prints can I get from a 1 L bottle?

Divide 1000 ml by resin per print. The calculator shows this as prints per bottle.
